If you are experiencing that your desktop icons are resetting position, there are a few ways to solve this.
OPTION 1
Toogle Auto arrange icons and align icons to grid by right clicking on desktop -> View
OPTION 2
Delete the cache file which is located at C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\IconCache.db ( You can also type %USERPROFILE% on windows start search )
OPTION 3
If you have 2 displays, put one shortcut or file on the second screen. This will fix the resetting issue for most users with more than one screen.
